YEAR:
2002 - 2004
(European Refugee Fund).
Ambassadors in Technology.

RESULTS:
40 trained asylum seekers who, having obtained a technical qualification, return to their country of origin and can act as ambassadors for the technical sector there.

REASON:
There were many asylum seekers in the Netherlands who were awaiting the outcome of their residency applications and had nothing else to do during the day. It was therefore necessary to offer them meaningful daytime activities.
OBJECTIVES:
To train asylum seekers residing in the Netherlands with the aim of enabling them to return home with dignity, having obtained a qualification in the metalworking sector, supplemented by teaching skills that will enable them to train others in their country of origin and thus become ambassadors for technology in that country.
